T. Eileen Munyak manages the 20-acre Bosswins Farm for Ralph and Dan DeRose in Millstone, NJ as well as running Hill Haven Inc. in Allentown, NJ.
Eileen first became involved with Thoroughbreds through her parents. She competed them as a teenager in the hunt seat discipline. While buying and selling her show horses, she took a special interest in the Thoroughbred. She has been an active member of the NJ Thoroughbred Breeders' Association since the mid 1970's. Her breeding program is based on good bloodlines and proven performance on the track.
A stellar cast of racehorses have been bred at Hill Haven, perhaps the best being the stakes winning Girl Powder with a record of 18 wins and 14 seconds in 44 lifetime starts with winnings of $449,447. She was named Jersey Bred Sprint Champion in both 1986 and 1987 while her dam, Pat's Little Girl, was named Broodmare of the Year in 1987. Girl Powder went on to become a stakes producer both in the United States and Japan. The Girl Powder Handicap is run at Monmouth Park in her honor.
Eileen also bred the notorious H.M.S. Jackson; winner of over $250,000. Jackson's owners kept a close eye on him after he was claimed from them. They managed to claim him back to give him the retirement he deserved at Hill Haven.
Eileen is as enthusiastic now as she was when she first got involved in breeding and racing Thoroughbreds. With her uncanny sense for the needs of each individual horse, her success story should continue for many years.
